My couples are always asking me to recommend wedding venues, florists, DJ’s, and other vendors, and so I’ve decided to feature a few of my favorites here on the blog.

Jenna Noordhoek, the Event Manager at the estate, took me for a tour and gave me a history lesson. The Deering Estate is one of the most amazing Old World wedding venues in South Florida. It was the Florida residence of famous businessman and philanthropist Charles Deering from 1922 – 1927, and now it’s the perfect place for a European-inspired DIY wedding — and a great excuse to shop the new BHLDN wedding collection by Anthropologie. There’s a beautiful stone courtyard that’s perfect for outdoor weddings out front between the Richmond Cottage and the main house that offers seating for up to 250. There’s also a huge grassy area out back overlooking Biscayne Bay. It’s the best of both worlds — the feel of a small, intimate wedding venue in the middle of Miami without the politics having to cut your guest list.

I love the culture, I love the art scene, and most of all, I love the old world feel. So it was pretty awesome to get to shoot two sessions there this weekend! I got together with Nicole, and despite the insane Miami heat, we shot for a few hours on The Streets of Mayfair and rocked it. Three important things you should know about her:
1) She’s adopted the spider that randomly roams around her office and named him Guiseppe.
2) She’s got the movie Anchorman memorized and can quote it in pretty much any situation and context.
3) Further reinforcing the previous point, she has a maroon car named (what else?) Ron Burgundy.
