Carol & Manny’s Wedding | The Biltmore, Coral Gables

I shot Carol and Manny’s wedding in Coral Gables a few weeks ago with my good friend Curtis Copeland. Stephanie and I love living in Fort Lauderdale, but every time I’m in the Gables I want to move to Miami — theres just so much character down there. They got ready at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, made it to their ceremony at First Methodist Church just before it started pouring, and wrapped it up with an awesome reception at The Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne (one of my favorite restaurants!). Legit.

Blake and Megan’s DIY wedding concept shoot was featured this morning on one of my favorite wedding blogs, Rock N’ Roll Bride. This is cool for a number of reasons.

1) I love how Blake & Megan’s shoot really captured who they are.

2) I love how Rock N’ Roll Bride features weddings where people get to let their creativity and personalities show.

3) I love being able to say “I’m pretty big in Europe” all day today.

Blake & Megan | DIY Wedding Concept Photoshoot

My wife and I love weddings — I’m a photographer (obviously) and she loves design and decorating. So we decided to put together a wedding concept shoot with our good friends Blake & Megan. We invited our awesome photographer friends Ashley and Lydia to come and shoot it with me. We all woke up this morning earlier than any human being should ever have to on a holiday, and headed over to Secret Woods Nature Center, where they have a crazy cool nature trail near the river (and the biggest spiders on earth). After shooting there a bit, we headed back to my house where Stephanie, my mom and sister, and a half dozen of our AWESOME friends set up a mock outdoor wedding that Stephanie, Ashley, and Megan designed. Stephanie’s been planning this for months, and it definitely showed. Too bad the rain cut it short — all the homemade desserts were delicious though!

I had an awesome time shooting Blake & Megan’s awesome concept shoot with Ashley and Lydia today! My wife did such a rocking job designing it, and our awesome friends and family worked so hard to help us make it happen.Thanks everyone for coming out and helping. Tom & Melissa’s Engagement | Morikami Japanese Garden | Delray Beach

I’d been looking forward to shooting Tom & Melissa’s engagement session at The Morikami Japanese Gardens for a while now, so I was really bummed when I woke up to a sky full of rainclouds yesterday. It poured so hard I could hardly see on the drive up — and all of a sudden it just stopped out of nowhere and left behind a beautiful blue sky. Everything still looked amazing when I pulled in, and we met up and headed out to the gardens to shoot — and it started pouring. Hard. On the plus side, we now had plenty of time to get to know each other better. Tom and Melissa had just met when she mentioned that she’d bought Twilight on DVD and was really excited to watch it. (I’d give him a hard time about it, except that shortly after Stephanie and I met I volunteered to watch Pride and Prejudice with her. I even went to the library and got the book so I could read up beforehand and impress her.)

Forty five minutes later, we had the weather on our side. Here’s a little something we threw together.

Kristian & Danielle’s Wedding | The Embassy Suites | Deerfield Beach

Kristian and Danielle could walk into McDonalds and order a Whopper, and someone would get it for them. For free — they’re just that cool. Stephanie and I have known them for a few years now — Kristian’s a pastor at Christian Life Center in Fort Lauderdale, where the wedding was held (and where Stephanie interned when she moved to South Florida). He and Danielle are one of the couples that everyone knew was going to spend the rest of their lives together, and so it was no surprise when we heard that they’d gotten engaged…they’re perfect for one another. I was psyched to get Danielle’s email last fall asking me to shoot their wedding, and after we killed it during their engagement session at CityPlace in downtown West Palm Beach, I couldn’t wait. My patience paid off — their wedding flat out rocked.

Ciara & Joe’s Engagement | South Beach

Last week my good friend Karen Lisa invited me along to shoot Ciara & Joe’s rad South Beach engagement session with her. I woke up that morning to the gray beginning of an ugly, rainy day, and had just about written off the possibility of the shoot going on when I got a call from Karen. The Weather Channel said we’d have a 90 minute dry window later that afternoon, and we were still on. I had to have her repeat it twice because the sound of the rain was drowning her out, but I’m glad we took the chance! A wet walk to the car and an hour of traffic later, and I pulled into South Pointe Park. The weather was amazing down there! Joe and Ciara are such a great couple, and were crazy fun to shoot. Watching the way they joked and laughed with one another reminded me of why it is I love doing this so much — my job is to hang out with people in love and help tell the story of one of the happiest days of their lives. It doesn’t get much better. Be sure to check out Karen’s photos too!
